Mother’s Day is just around the corner – March 26th for those of you in the UK and May 14th in the US – so it seems only right that we celebrate the best movie moms of all time.
Whether they’ve saved the day, sacrificed themselves or just been totally cool and understanding of their teenage daughter, these moms know what they’re doing when it comes to parenting.
1. Helen Parr – The Incredibles
Elastigirl, also known as Helen Parr and Mrs. Incredible went to incredible lengths to protect her children from harm.
2. Mrs. George – Mean Girls
“I’m not a regular mom, I’m a cool mom.” – All she wanted was for her daughter to be safe.
3. Bambi’s Mother – Bambi
Bambi’s mother’s main concern was her son’s safety and the consequences of that fateful day will bring us close to tears forever.
4. Jeanine Stifler – American Pie
It isn’t just Stacy’s mom who’s got it going on. Stifler’s mom had it going on in America Pie.
5. Miss. Honey – Matilda
She was the sweetest person ever and the mother that Matilda deserved.
6. Molly Weasley – Harry Potter
We loved her from the very beginning when she took Harry Potter in as her own and looked after him – and nothing will compare to seeing her destroy Bellatrix.
7. Lily Potter – Harry Potter
And of course, Lily Potter, who gave her life to save her son and continued to appear to him when he needed it most.
8. Morticia Addams – The Addams Family
Morticia Addams is arguably the most glamorous gothic mom we’ve ever seen.
9. Mrs. Jumbo – Dumbo
Mrs. Jumbo is a sweet and caring mother who doesn’t take to kindly to people teasing her beloved son.
10. Tess Coleman – Freaky Friday
Tess just doesn’t understand her daughter until they literally swap lives and she kills it on stage.
11. Bren MacGuff – Juno
Juno’s stepmother was totally cool and collected when Juno told them she was pregnant – something that could have sent others off into a rage.
12. Juno MacGuff – Juno
To be totally honest, Juno was pretty cool herself.
13. Andy’s Mom – Toy Story
She went through a divorce, which is pretty difficult, but her main focus was always on her children.
14. Karen – Love Actually
She stays at home to raise her two children only to have her world torn apart.
15. Queen Clarisse Renaldi – The Princess Diaries
She taught Mia so much and was genuinely proud of her granddaughter – plus she was the Queen of Genovia!
16. Nala – The Lion King
Not only was Nala his childhood best friend, but she brought Simba back to his pride and brought up their children – all whilst being a complete badass.
17. Kate McCallister – Home Alone
A controversial pick, but although Kate did fail to notice when her son wasn’t on holiday with them, she did everything in her power to get back to him and make sure he was safe.
