The Fresh Prince of Bel Air is up there with the great TV shows of the ’90s.

It was the show that kick started Will Smith’s astronomical career and also gave us one of the catchiest theme tunes around.

Well rumours have began that the classic might be getting a remake after the cast were pictured together recently during a reunion.

Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Will’s cousin, Carlton Banks, uploaded the picture to Instagram alongside Tatyana Ali (Ashley Banks), Karyn Parsons (Hilary Banks), Will Smith (Will Smith), Daphne Maxwell Reid (Aunt Viv) and Joseph Marcell (Geoffrey).

Ribeiro wrote the caption: “Always amazing to spend an afternoon with my Fresh Prince family.” This was followed by a touching tribute to their deceased co-star: “Wishing that James Avery was still with us to make this complete.”

James Avery sadly passed away in 2013, so even if the show did return, it would be bittersweet and the show would just not be the same without him.

It has been over 20 years since a new episode of the show was filmed – it ran for six seasons before coming to an end in 1995.

Despite it being one of the biggest shows in the 1990s, Will Smith has previously shut down rumours of a reunion, saying: “I don’t think ever, like pretty close to when hell freezes over, we’re going to leave that one alone.”

In the past Alfonso has also spoke out about a potential reunion stating tat he thinks it should be left as it is in honour to James Avery.

“Since the passing of my favourite dad in the world, ever on TV, James Avery passed, the chances of a Fresh Prince coming back together will not happen,” he said.

“I don’t think we feel as a cast that we would do even our fans justice. We all felt like he was the centrepiece or the nucleus of that show. Without him, it just doesn’t work. So even if the whole cast comes to support me on the show, we’re not looking for that to happen. And that’s OK.”

Recently Will Smith, who is now 48-years-old, bungee jumped from Victoria Falls, something he said he had been hoping to do for the last 20 years.

However it is a photo from the jump that sent nostalgia fans into meltdown.

At one point during the jump, Will is upside-down and looks identical to James Avery/Will Smith.
